Volunteers are the heart and soul of the Friends of the Beaverton City Library! We need volunteers to help accomplish the many things that keep us running. Individual, family, corporate group volunteering opportunities available.
It’s a fun and fulfilling way to give back to your community while doing something you enjoy. When you join our team, you’ll:
- Gain hands-on experience in retail, customer service, event planning, and online sales.
- Connect with fellow book lovers and supporters of the Beaverton City Library
- Make a meaningful impact by supporting one of the top library systems in our state

The Book Corner
- Join us at our cozy used bookstore! We're looking for friendly faces to help with:
- Shelving - Keep our store filled with great finds
- Vintage & Antiquarian - Curate a trove of treasured novels
- Scanning - Process our generous book and media donations
- Customer Care - Welcome our guests to their new favorite place; The Book Corner!
Helpful skills and training: We welcome all experience levels! Volunteers get the most out of this role if they are curious and willing to learn. Training is provided and accommodations are offered.
Time commitment: Two hour weekly shifts for at least 6 months.
Shifts available during:
- Tuesday – Friday, 9AM to 5PM
- Saturday, 8AM to 3PM
Online Sales
Support our dynamic Online Sales Facility! We're looking for detail-oriented folks to help with:
- Listing - Post our inventory online for shoppers everywhere
- Shipping - Ensure these treasures make it to their new home safely
- eBay Auctions - Process our specialty items, often rare and collectibles
- Media Processing - Work exclusively with records, CDs, DVDs, VHS, and similar items
Helpful skills and training: These positions heavily rely on using a computer. We welcome all experience levels, but require volunteers in this role to be comfortable using a computer. Training is provided and accommodations are offered.
Time commitment: Two hour weekly shifts for at least 6 months.
Shifts available during:
- Monday– Sunday, 7AM to 6PM
- Additional shifts may be available after 6 months of volunteering
Friends of the Beaverton City Library
Help with the special projects of our organization! We're looking for community-driven individuals to help with:
- Board of Directors - Drive our mission forward by serving on our board of directors
- Events - Support the planning of local events from business give-back nights to author signings.
- Fundraising - Activate passion into action by helping solicit additional funding through donor stewardship, sponsorships and grants.
- Marketing - Elevate the voice of our organization through newsletters and media relations.
- Community Outreach - Represent the FBCL in the community at local fairs, city-hosted events, sporting events, and more
Helpful skills and training: Preference for these positions will go to those with applicable experience. That being said, we welcome all experience levels. Training is provided and accommodations are offered.
Time commitment and shift availability depends on role.
